We had the best time working with Joanna and Ty to plan their outdoorsy Wellspring Spa wedding this summer.
Located in the foothills of Mt. Rainier National Park, Wellspring Spa is the perfect spot to create a wedding that celebrates the natural beauty of the area. That’s exactly what Joanna and Ty wanted to do! They were able to host their loved ones for a mountain getaway and give them a true PNW experience. Here are just a few of our favorite parts of this Wellspring Spa Wedding!
Aside from working with a kind and brilliant couple, our favorite part of the wedding was the setting! Wellspring Spa calls itself a woodland retreat for a reason. You’re truly tucked away in the woods and the only sounds you can hear are those found in nature. Well, that and wedding guests having a good time, of course.
There are multiple cabins onsite, making it easy to host loved ones for the whole weekend. Plus, there are all types of little trails onsite for exploring. Joanna and Ty were able to have a private first look and take some photos, just the two of them, out in the forest.
(Let’s pause for a moment. I think we need to take a second to appreciate the wings on Joanna’s dress! It added so much lovely whimsy to her elegant gown.)
The ceremony took place in the forest sanctuary, which is a short hike away from the rest of the property. It’s incredibly peaceful and secluded, making it an ideal spot for a wedding ceremony. (And guests are able to get a quick workout in on their way up!) They kept the design simple with an accent of baby’s breath at the altar, created by Newbury Bay.
There’s an adorable cottage tucked away for the wedding party to gather before the ceremony (and have shots of limoncello, of course.) The bride’s parents make limoncello from their own lemon tree back in California, so that was a very special touch.
The rest of the reception took place outside the main lodge in absolutely glorious weather. Early June is always a toss-up in the Pacific Northwest, but the weather decided to be on its best behavior. It was the perfect, sunny day to enjoy custom cocktails, lawn games, and the great outdoors.
Pyramid Catering created a beautiful buffet featuring a veggie-heavy menu, which was perfect for this summery day. Guests then enjoyed their dinner out on the lawn, dining on some our favorite farm tables from Olympic Farm Style Events.
Joanna and Ty wanted to keep the design for their wedding simple, letting the natural landscape be the star of the show. The wood farm tables, accented with loose greens and soft flowers, were a perfect fit.
Each guest received an adorable camp mug at their place setting. It was a really lovely and practical gift for guests to remember the day. (I have a strong opinion that you can never have enough coffee mugs…)
Some of the other outdoorsy details we loved were the little handmade mountains and a custom Mt. Rainier National Park sign.
Joanna and Ty were lucky to have family friends bake them an incredible wedding cake. It was a three-tiered work of art!
The evening ended with a beautiful sunset and dancing in the open air.
It was a truly magical day and such a treat to work with this amazing couple.
“We would not hesitate to recommend Hannah for her wedding planning services. Our wedding was at a rustic, somewhat rural location that presented several unique challenges. Hannah really stepped up to the task of making the entire thing stress-free and beautiful. Her planning calls were always enjoyable and efficient. Her response time to our random questions and needs was incredibly fast. She had a wonderful inventory of decor items that we were able to borrow for our event (demonstrating her commitment to sustainability and efforts to reduce potential waste). She even came to town the night before the wedding to walk through the venue, check in with us, and run our rehearsal!
The day of the wedding, she had a big smile on her face all day. She and her assistant graciously prepped bud vases and made our tablescapes look amazing in between all the other tasks on their list. She was wonderful to our friends and family – my somewhat stiff British parents even made a point to tell us how much they liked her. Whenever there were random glitches, she kept us, the bride and groom, busy enjoying ourselves while she handled things like a pro. And lastly, in the current times there are always COVID infections to dance around and manage, so when some of our out-of-town guests got sick the day before, she worked with us to help them enjoy our outdoor event from a safe distance (and made sure they were fed too!). 100/10 rating for her. Hopefully I’m never throwing myself another wedding but if I did, I would hire Hannah :)”
